The Aristocats Movie Review

This is Bobaloo writing here.

My pet human and I recently viewed the movie The Aristocats through Netflix. It was wonderful to snuggle next to my pet and watch this delightful movie.

The Aristocats is an animated film about wealthy housecats who reside in Paris. Yes, these felines are living the life. They are part of that privelaged class. The story begins with life at the home of Duchess and her three kittens Marie, Berloiz and Toulouse.

Their pet human is Madame. And I can honestly say that if something would ever happen to my pet human I would love to have Madame as a pet. She is kind and she adores her felines. Her cats are pampered beyond belief. And they are friendly like so many of my fellow felines. Duchess has taught her kittens well and they share their food with the mouse who resides in the house.

But when Madame decides to provide for her faithful and loving felines properly if and when she should no longer be able to take care of them. That evil servant of hers decides that it isn't fair. He believes that he should receive all of her money. I was so upset. He took matters into his own hands and threw the cats out. I was outraged! How could a human do this to loving animals? And Duchess is so loyal to her pet human? I can't believe it. All through her adventures she puts aside her own well being for the sake of her pet human. But I do have to admit that I did thoroughly enjoy the scenes with Scat Cat and his musicians. They do seem like a fun bunch to spend an evening with.

I do highly recommend this movie if you would like to spend quality time snuggling with your pet human. Felines and humans of all ages with definitely enjoy watching this movie. And Madame is an excellent role model on how pet humans should treat the cats in their life.

There Ain't No Bugs On Me

Today is a sad day. We have lost our beloved Leonard Nimoy. Rest in Peace original Spock you will be missed.

But more importantly to the members of my family we lost Uncle Bob today.

Now, I'm sure there are a few of you who are wondering why the post is entitled there ain't no bugs on me when I'm talking about individuals who have passed away.  Hang with me I'm getting there.

You see a few years ago my Uncle Bob was in the hospital. I can't remember why, but while he was hospitalized he was given some medication. He had an adverse reaction to this medication. And he began to hallucinate. He thought there were bugs on him. Thank goodness the doctors took care of it quickly. After this occurred I visited with him in the hospital he told me about it, and then he began to sing this song to me.

I learned something really important that day. A person can either wallow in the fact that they have had something go wrong in life and feel sorry for themselves. Or a person can find the humor in the situation where things went very wrong. It's all in the way you see what has happened. It was one of those indirect life lessons. And he probably didn't realize what he was doing. But it has stuck with me.

So Uncle Bob I'll miss you, and I'll really miss your sense of humor. And thanks for the great life lesson.

Simple Reign Inspired Hairstyle

I've been watching the show Reign on CW recently. For those of you who haven't had the opportunity to see the show. It's all about Mary Queen of Scots. It's kind of like a historical soap opera. If you haven't seen it, and you like shows with lots of drama and courtly intrigue you should check it out.

If you have long hair the show is full of great hairstyles. The styles range anywhere from simple to complicated. And they often involve tiaras. But as I sat watching the show. I saw a hairstyle that Mary Queen of Scots was sporting. I thought to myself I have done that with my hair before. That is simple, but it looks really good.

Like I said it is a simple hairstyle. All you need to do is brush back the front portion of your hair. Then begin to braid it in the back.

Make sure you are braiding your hair tight. This shouldn't be a loose braid. Continue braid that section down the back.

Brush out the hair in back. The braid pulls your hair up, and keeps it off your face. It's easy and well it looks great.

Let me know if you watch Reign and what you think of the show.

Heuvos Ranchero Sandwich

So once again I was hungry and I began rummaging around to find what I could make to eat. I came up with a Heuvos Ranchero Sandwich. This is made from food many of you have sitting in the house already.

Here's What You Need

English Muffins
Eggs
Bacon
Avocado
Salsa
Refried Beans
Cheese

Here's What You Do

First fry up your bacon until it's crisp. I actually was going for less mess so I baked the bacon. I turned out perfect. And there was way less mess to clean up.
Toast your muffin in the oven.
Now fry your egg don't break the yoke.
Pull your muffin out of the oven, and add sliced cheese to one side and the refried beans to another.
Heat it a couple of minutes longer.
Now stack your egg, avocado, salsa, and bacon on top of the beans, then top it with the side of the muffin that has the cheese.

It's that simple and it tastes fantastic!

Zentangle in Blue

At the beginning of the year, I decided on a word of the year. The word is complete. I have so many projects that I have started and I have never finished. And I'm glad that I finished one of the projects I started oh a year or so ago.

When I started the project I decided that it would help me relax to zentangle. And it does. At the time I did several zentangles in the traditional mode. You know the black and white doodles. Then I got this bright idea since I had some canvas lying around that it would be great to paint one. So I started.

Blue is my absolute favorite color and I thought that white was a great color to do the doodling in. Is this the perfect zentangle? Well probably not, but it was fun and relaxing. And when I completed the painting. I felt good because I felt as though I had actually moved forward and got something finished in life. Instead of only working on one section of the painting at a time. I was able to push myself to complete it.

I hope everyone is having a fantastic day and let me know how you are spending your time relaxing.

St. Patrick's Day Goodies

Yes, those parties will soon be coming up for one of my favorite holidays St. Patrick's Day. I've always been a believer that St. Patrick's Day is one of the great days of the year. It's always a signal that spring really will be here before you know it. And well any of you who know me, know I can't wait for spring. And well who doesn't love a St. Patrick's Day Parade or party?

But what do you wear to that parade? You know it has to involve green, and of course it has to be fun. And well since it is still a little chilly on March 17th. You will want something warm. Of course it's a sweatshirt.

The next one is just cute. It's a great accessory. Saint Patrick's Day boot cuffs. I mean it will still be cold so a pair of boots will be needed anyway. And how many of us have a green pair of boots to wear?

And of course you need something just fun to wear on St. Paddy's Day. So Leprechaun Dust is my next pick. Come on it's fun for a party!

And last, but not least a mini leprechaun hat. I mean it is a day to celebrate leprechauns too isn't it?

This is for the trivia buffs out there. Did you know that one of the many reasons you wear green on Saint Patrick's Day is that green is supposed to make you invisible to leprechauns.  Leprechauns aren't really the cute creatures you see on the Lucky Charms commercial. They have a nasty habit of pinching people so being invisible to them can save you a pinch. So not only do you have an outfit to wear to that parade or party you also have some extra knowledge to share that day.

Let me know what you think of all of the goodies.

Why Do I Have To Do That?

I have this acquaintance who constantly asks why do I have to do that? I have to admit this just grates on my nerves. Every time I see this person. And I do mean every time I see her why do I have to do that falls out of her mouth. Then she always reminds everyone that her life is so hard. I have to admit that I just really want to scream GET OVER YOURSELF WHY DON'T YOU? But I refrain from doing this. I just don't think that would be a really nice thing to do.

How do you deal with a person like this? These are some of the things I do to do deal with the why do I have to do that question that is asked repeatedly.

Listen

I've noticed that sometimes as I listen to this individual she often say this when she has a problem. She recently told me she has so much to do because of her kids. It felt like she just wanted to have someone to take time to listen to her. Life can be rough. I usually have an extra five minutes to listen to someone tell me a story.

Remind Yourself

As I listened to this individual told me that she doesn't have anyone to help her. She doesn't have any family. It's just her and her parents, and her brother and her kids. So why doesn't she have anybody to take care of her? I thought to myself it sounds like you do have people. I had to remind myself that I really don't know her family, and that we all have different expectations in life. And I also had to remind myself that there have been times I have spent time wallowing in self pity too. This person just isn't at the point that she is ready to give it up yet.

Be Honest

One day I was listening and remind myself while this person was asking me why do I have to do work extra hours when the business she works for didn't have enough employees. It just came out. I said because that's your job. If you don't like it you can leave. You don't have to stay at that job. Yes, there was a moment of silence. I had committed the worst offense possible to this individual. I called her out. I could tell she wanted to yell at me. But she couldn't, I just told her the truth. I had listened to her. I mean I really listened to her, and she asked. If you give an honest answer, people may not like it, but they can't debate honesty.

Cut Them Loose

Yes, there comes a time in all relationships when we have to ask ourselves is this really worth it? If the answer is no, then it's time to get rid of that person in your life. It's okay to end dead end relationships.

So how do you all deal with the individual who constantly asks that question?

The Best Things Since Sliced Bread

I've been thinking about things that are really great in my life this weeks and these are a few of the best things since sliced bread that I've come up with.

I can't imagine what it life would be like going through this cold spurt without my trusty furnace. It is the best thing in my life right now. And I'm not kidding. The sound of that furnace kicking on and the feel of warm air coming through the vents is heavenly. My faithful followers know how I feel about the cold and you that this week I'm dreaming of spring. You can read the post see what I'm draming of.
Another of the best things since sliced bread is having two whole days off this week. I've literally had to argue with my boss in order to get one day off a week. This week I was fortunate enough to have two. It was delightful!

I've also had words of encouragement from unexpected places. I've decided to push myself to conquer something That Scares Me to Death. Yep, you can find out what scares me by clicking on the link. It's weird how people you think will encourage you say absolutely nothing to you when you present an idea, and then someone you think will shoot the idea down says go for it. Life is strange sometimes.

And last, but not least, Kellogg's Red Velvet Pop Tarts.
These things are my current snack of choice. They are great, and not just great. They are Tony the Tiger great. Try them out if you like anything red velvet you won't be disappointed.

So what are the best things since sliced bread in your life this week?

That Scares Me to Death

I was out with a friend a few weeks ago. She told me that I should go through my blog posts and start editing them to see if I have enough material for a book. I thought to myself now there is an idea. And then I thought to myself that scares me to death. I've thought about it. And why does that scare me so much?

And I've decided that there are two reasons that scares me to death. The first reason is that I could fail. The second reason is I could succeed. When I finally figured this out I thought this is kind of crazy. So why do I have this crazy fear going on?

Fear of Failing

This one makes sense to me. It's a normal fear. What if nobody likes what I put together? What if I just can't do it? I've conquered these fears before. To me it's just a matter of starting and moving through the whatever is going on, and before you know it you're over your fear. So I can do that.

Fear of Success

This one kind of baffled me when I first realized it. But I've decided that there is a fear of things changing. You know that moving out of my comfort zone. I won't know what to expect things will be topsy turvy. There will be a new normal. And then will it mean that people expect more out of me? Will they place more demands on me? I'm basically happy with the expectations that people have of me.

So what's the first step? I've decided that since this is a project that putting together a book might be something that interests me, that I should start going through old posts and see what I have. Hey, even though it scares you it doesn't mean you shouldn't try it out should you?

The Package Part 2

This is Bobaloo again. My roommate Captain recently wrote about The Package we received in the mail recently. He focused on part of the package. The toy which contained catnip. I really did appreciate this gift, but there was another item in the package which caught my eye. This item will require more patience, and it will allow me as a feline to develop a hobby that has interested me.

You see felines do require some roughage in their diets. It has been a concern of mine that I do not have fresh grass to nibble on. Before I came to live with my pet human. I lived in the wild, and well I was able to snack on grass whenever I pleased. But this delight has been denied since I became an indoor cat. This takes us back to the package. We received this in our package.

We received a Chia Cat Grass Planter. The picture on the front of this box intrigued me. A picture of a cat munching on grass. It brought back those memories of roaming in the wild. Ah, yes those were the days. But back to my new hobby. I decided that my new hobby would be gardening. So with some encouragement my pet human opened up the chia pet. This is what was inside the box.

The box included an adorable planter. It is a great depiction of how we felines are able to take a nap anywhere. It also contains seeds, soil, and instructions. Yes, I poured through the instructions eagerly. They were quite simple to follow. I had to provide my pet human with many vocal instructions. I swear there are times when humans can be so daft. But here is a picture of me inspecting her potting skills.

Yes, I had to assure that seeds were sprinkled evenly throughout the soil so that our grass harvest will be at the maximum. So here is how the planter looks now.

The instructions state that within 3 days we should begin to see sprouts. I simply can't wait to see them grow. And I am so eager to taste that snack.

Please fellow felines let me know if you have any gardening techniques that would be good for this new hobby of mine. I am so excited to hear from you all.

Bacon Cheddar Stuffed Portobello Bites

Sometimes you want a snack, and you go dig around in the refrigerator and you realize you don't have your normal snacks stashed in the fridge. One of my February Goals was to clean out the refrigerator. I've been working on it and my other goals feel free to check out that post. But since I've been working on cleaning the fridge out thoroughly I have gotten rid of a lot of things. So I used what I had to cook up a snack that would fill me up, and would taste great. I came up with bacon cheddar stuffed portobello bites.

Here's What You Need

6 Baby Portobella Caps
Shredded Cheese
Turkey Bacon Bits

Here's What You Do

First pull the stem out of each cap. Then stuff each cap with the shredded cheese. And top it off with your turkey bacon bits. Now bake them in an oven that's been preheated to 350 degrees for 10 to 15 minutes. Pull them out and they are ready to snack on.

First paint the canvas blue. Then draw half an ice cream cone onto the cardboard. Cut it out with the X-acto knife. Paint the ice cream section pink. And the cone section brown.

After the paint has dried draw some lines onto the cone section with your sharpie. And cover the ice cream section with modge podge. Sprinkle it with glitter.

DIY Organic Face Powder

Wouldn't it be cool to know exactly what is going into some of your beauty products? I mean we all go to the store look and see if we like the shade and then we just plop down the money and pay for it. Well if you'd like to know a little bit more about what is going into your beauty products, here is a DIY organic face powder. And many of the ingredients can be found in your kitchen.

Here's what you need.
3 Tablespoons arrowroot
Arrowroot has been used for ages as the base for talc powders. So it works

1 1/2 teaspoons cacoa powder. Yep, it provides the color

Next 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon
This also provides some color, and cinnamon is great for circulation.

The final ingredient is the one that you can't just go to the grocery store and pick up. You'll need to order it, but it's pretty inexpensive.

1 Tablespoon zinc oxide

Zinco Oxide will help protect you from the suns harmful rays. It acts as a sunscreen.

Now mix all of these ingredients together. Then test it on your skin. If you're happy with your shade then apply it like any other face powder. You can also use less of cacoa powder if you want a little lighter shade of powder.

See it's easy, and well you can decide on your shade of powder instead of somebody else.

This Week I'm Dreaming Of

This week I have been dreaming of a few things. I've been dreaming about warmer days. You know the days when you don't have to go out and heat your car up for 15 minutes before you go anywhere. I've been dreaming about the days when you don't have to take that extra 5 minutes to put on a coat, hat, gloves, and a pair of boots before you go anywhere.

I'm dreaming of longer days. I'm dreaming of days where I can buy fresh vegetables from a farmer's market. I'm dreaming of the scent of lilacs and roses in a garden. I'm dreaming of feeling the grass underneath my bare feet.

I'm dreaming o fireflies and cookouts. The smell of barbeque. And the taste of fresh squeezed lemonade.

These are just a few of the things I started dreaming of this week when I saw the forecast.

Life As a Goldfish

Imagine waking up one morning and you find yourself all wet. You're all wet because you are in a bowl of water. You've become an awfully good swimmer over night. But your body does feel like it normally does. You see your reflection in the glass and open your mouth to gasp, and bubbles float upward. You look like this.

How could this happen? And what will become of you? You begin to swim around the bowl looking for a way out. As you swim around you realize even if you can get out of the bowl how will you breath? You think perhaps, I should just stay put for a little while.

Just make the best of the situation. And swimming is good exercise isn't it? Well you're getting plenty of that. There really isn't much to look at in this bowl. Some colored stones at the bottom, and then there is this handy plastic plant. You become bored quickly.

All of that swimming has made you hungry. Where is the food? The plastic plant is impossible to eat because well it's plastic. Lord knows what plastic would do to you. You look through the glass of the bowl. You spot some sort of small container that says fish food. That gives you hope.

You'll just get the container. So you attempt to jump out of the water. It's much more difficult than you realize. You just couldn't get enough oomph to make the jump. How did they get out of the tank in that movie Finding Nemo?

Since this didn't work you decide I need to get someone's attention. There is someone right over there. They aren't facing you. So how do you make enough noise to get their attention? You start jumping again. Nothing happens. So you must wait.

You notice they are now facing you and so you start swimming franticly. You start screaming mentally I'm hungry! Feed me! Still nothing changes. You slump! How does this life work?

Then unexpectedly someone comes to the table your bowl is set on. They don't even look at you. They just pick up something and walk away. The nerve of them. Don't they know how hungry you? You are getting a little angry.

You swim around faster and faster, in fact you are getting dizzy swimming in circles. Why doesn't someone notice. Then finally that human notices and comes back to the table. They look in the bowl. You look at them asking how stupid are you anyway? Why are you looking at me? Can't you see that I need you to pick up that container and feed me?

The human actually picks up the container and twists the lid off. The idiot looks inside. Like it is something for humans. I'm screaming dump some in the water fool! Yes, the container is moving toward the bowl. Yes, it is falling through the air. And it hits the water. You scurry towards the top. Ahhh, nourishment. You're not really sure what it is, but you know it tastes wonderful. In fact it is the best thing you have ever tasted!

You can now relax a little. And then you notice something moving outside the bowl. Maybe it is that human again. You look out the bowl. Your eyes open wide. It's that creature that strikes fear in the heart of every fish. It's a cat. It's staring at you!

Those eyes are huge! It licks the bowl. This one is not the brightest creature in the world. Who licks a fish bowl? You laugh! Then it moves and things aren't so funny. It's paw is moving into the water. Umm, where is that human? Can't they hear that splashing sound? You dart away from the feline. The human finally notices the commotion. And yes, they physically move that nasty creature away from you. You breath a sigh of relief. What nothing from the human? No words of comfort. Not even a glance your way. How can this be?

You decide you can go back to relaxing. You doze off. When you wake up you are different you are lying in a bed. You get out of the bed and walk toward the goldfish bowl. And think to yourself something seems really familiar about this. You unscrew the lid on the food container look inside and sprinkle some food into the bowl.
